The Morning Star
First thing I remember from this morning is this tree.
Shadow Ent
Fortune favors not only the bold but also those that wake up early.
The Morning Approach
High atop this plateau peninsula, my morning was unexpectedly frosted. Though I should have been more prepared for that given how cold the night was.
Sun Catchers
These trees were the first to grab the morning's light.
Pine Cone Paradise
Do you call them pine straw or pine needles? These pine cones don't seem to care either way
Skeletree
Like the arteries from a river, these trees seem to follow a similar branching pattern.
Wind Frost
Even the frost was no match for the howling winds of last night.
Crystal Leaf
This downed leave was reborn with the ice crystals.
The Plateua
Yes! The remainder of the morning would be weaving along the rim of this plateua in the still northern regions of Zion National Park.
Zion Pyramid
No Egyptians responsible for the construction of this natural wonder.
Rippled Canyon
Off in the distance. Thankfully my lens was able to punch out some distance.
Twisted Fingers
These trees have some of the most gnarled branches I've ever seen. I'm sure the elements (wind, I'm looking at you) are partly to blame.
The Tier
Has any human ever mounted this cone-like monolith?
Covered Canyon
On the other side of the plateau, I descend down into a densely covered canyon.
Simba's Pride
Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
Autumnal Path
It was really starting to feel like autumn. I could almost smell Halloween.
Warm Death
These trees were craddled by the sage brush under foot. A contrast of life and death.
The Weary
I guess the weary does get some rest.
Worn
Fatigue was certainly setting in. This fallen tree could not have presented itself at a better time.
Respect
It was a mixed feeling of exhaustion and overwhelming sense of respect for this landscape.
Still Tired
Time to get up? Nah!
One More Try
Maybe now its time to get up?
Rise and Rise Again
...Until lambs become lions.
The Plateu Returns
Once I think the view cannot improve...then this happens.
