Over the River
...
Eastbound and Down
First time heading east since I've been on this journey.
At Zion's Gate
Barely able to stay awake, I arrive at the threshold of Zion National Park.
The Pen is Mightier
One of my single most important pieces of gear.
The Zion Cathedral
The might stone giants that welcome all visitors to Zion National Park.
Stone Giants
Has any living person been to the top of these gateway giants?
Shielded
Protected from the unexpected desert cold by my Grandpa's sweater.
Snow Stun
Snow? In the desert? Well I must admit this was an unexpected surprise.
Desert Dusting
I could not get over my shock to see snow...in the desert...in October!
More Like It
Now THIS I expected to see.
Kolob's Welcome
I'm not sure who this Kolob character is but he sure knows how to throw a welcoming party.
Ghostly Rock Wall
It really felt like I was walking into a stone fortress.
Green Brush
The stone walls were a visual commanding red but the flora belonged to the greens.
Fuzzy Bark
This bark was soft and furry as you can see. Not a bad option for bedding.
Desert Roses
Its true what they say. Every rose does have its thorn.
Shadow Casters
The sun dances through the mountains.
Spider Trees
Branches grabbing whatever light they could.
Tree Webs
No spider in the world be upset to live here.
Desert Pride
These trees outta be proud. Sure takes some resilience to survive out here.
Play Fighting
The trees looked like they were play fighting with each other.
Road Block
It always seemed like a stone or tree would stand in my way.
Shrublands
The red rock mountains can't have a monopoly on the scenery afterall.
Earths Crust Above
So dry and so red, it just seemed like the Earth split open and its inner crust just popped up.
The trails through the low country were overcome by the beauty of autumn. I didn't know Utah had a Fall.
